The success of our students is at the heart of everything we do. We understand the investment you’re making in your future by studying a postgraduate qualification. We endeavor to match this, not only by providing you with an excellent academic journey, but with the support and advice you need alongside it.

Once you have enrolled on one of our courses you’ll be introduced to the University’s student support services and our Student Success Team, a dedicated team for online students. Your Student Success Advisor will be your main point of contact for all non-academic queries during your time studying with us. They’ll help you with anything from learning to navigate the Virtual Learning Environment to reminding you of assessment deadlines and module start dates.

Your Student Success Advisor will:

– Remind you of module start dates, assessment, assignment and module payment deadlines

– Provide guidance and support for all non-academic areas of the course

– Help you with any questions or queries around the administration of your course

– Help you manage your time and keep on track with your course.

Student Success Advisor James Hutton tells us more about his role and the support he offers students during their time studying with us.

As well as the Student Success Team you’ll have access to the university’s wider student support services including specialist IT and Library support for online students, careers advice and study skills and our Health Wellbeing and Counselling service. We also have a dedicated Student Support Unit, a team of specialist advisors who work with students who require additional support whilst studying.

Library services

As a student studying online at Sussex you’ll have full use of our online Library catalogue and learning resources. You’ll be able to access thousands of eBooks, journals, newspapers and databases. We also have a dedicated Librarian for online courses, who’ll help you with using the Library and sourcing the resources you need. If there is anything we have in print but not online, our Librarians will arrange for it to be scanned and emailed to you.

The Library also offers a chat service for support during office hours and if you’re ever on campus, you’re more than welcome to come in and visit and use the Library in person.

IT Support

With online students joining us from all over the world and studying at different times, we understand our IT support can’t just be 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday BMT. We therefore offer a 24hr IT service for students who are experiencing any technical issues.

Careers and Employability Centre

Our Careers and Employability Centre provides specialist 1-2-1 careers support and guidance and is available to you throughout your time studying with us. You’ll also have access to a wealth of online sources such as guides to CV writing and will be invited to attend careers workshops delivered especially for Masters students.
