Accessible through Canvas our online learning platform, the Study Online Student Support Site (SOSSS) provides valuable resources for students seeking careers advice and guidance.
Careers Hub
As an online student you’ll be given access to our Careers Hub where you can find resources including;
- One-to-one support with specialist careers advisors, via telephone or Skype calls
- Job sector guides
- Support with writing CVs and job applications
- Details of job vacancies and graduate schemes (UK and overseas)
- Access to GoinGlobal; in-depth careers advice for students looking to work overseas
- Internship and voluntary opportunities
- Information on entrepreneurships and start-ups.
The Careers Hubs resources are available to students throughout their course and for three years after they graduate.
Careers workshops
The Careers Hub also run regular events including career workshops and fairs where employers are invited to campus to meet students and promote vacancies and graduate opportunities. If you are studying locally or visiting campus when events are being held you are welcome to attend them in person.
As most careers workshops are delivered on campus, our online students have access to presentation resources from previous events through the Careers and Employability Centre (CEC).
Sussex Connect
As soon as you join the University of Sussex you will become part of an incredible global network of students, alumni, academic and professional staff from over 100 countries. Both during your time as a student and as alumnus of the university you’ll be encouraged to engage within this network and maximise the opportunities being part of the Sussex community provides.
Sussex Connect is a platform which brings together thousands of professionals who have graduated from the university and connects them with current students.
Offering professional mentoring, advice, guidance and access and insights into the organisations they work for, this dedicated network of mentors work in a vast range of sectors and industries all over the world.
As an online student you’ll have the opportunity to sign up for e-mentoring and peer-to-peer support through Sussex Connect, as well as becoming a mentor yourself.
